Love without limits

Medford, Ore. — A local woman is recognized for her devotion to caring for her husband. Jim and Judy Farnsworth have been happily married for over 30 years. On Wednesday, Judy’s dedication to caring for her husband was honored with a ‘Random Act of Pasta.’

Jim is paralyzed from the shoulders down – but his wife, Judy, said that doesn’t make their marriage much different from anyone else’s.

“Just because you’re disabled or you have something tragic happen in your life doesn’t mean life is over,”

Judy was a recipient of ‘Random Acts of Pasta’ after she was nominated by not one, but two, people.

One woman nominated her because of her dedication to her husband, saying “She has a lot on her plate and this would be awesome for her!!! She is a very loving wife and takes care of all of his needs.”
Those needs include day-to-day activities like helping her husband in and out of bed and getting him dressed.”

“Meeting her has fulfilled my life. It’s given me more of an opportunity to do things in life,” Jim said.

Judy said Jim’s disability doesn’t define their life, it’s just a small part of a much larger love story.

“I’m a big believer in until death do you part and you don’t get to pick your life mate – it picks you,” Judy said.

Though Jim thanks Judy for being a devoted wife and caregiver, she said Jim isn’t the only one learning from the experience.

“It is definitely worth it. It gives people more perspective on life. you never know when you, yourself, are gonna be in the same situation as he or I,” Judy said.

After more than 30 years together overcoming obstacles, they’re not slowing down now.

“We’re in it together forever,” Judy said.
