Medford in the running for new playground

MEDFORD PARKMedford, Ore. — Medford is in the running to win a new playground for the city, but they’ll have to beat out Bend and Portland first. The competition is a collaboration between Moda and the Portland Trail Blazers, who have each been donating $5 for every assist made on the court.

Despite being a seventh of the size of Portland, Medford is currently in the lead and poised to win a new all-ability playground at the Fichtner Mainwaring Park.

“This would be an upset similar to the 1980 US hockey team winning the gold medal,” Assistant Parks & Recreation Director Rich Rosenthal says.

“We’re up by a thousand, over Portland,” Rosenthal adds, “that’s amazing!”

Voting ends, Monday, March 14, 2016. If you’d like to ensure that Medford takes the prize, click HERE to vote.
