Medford, Ore., — Medford Police have seen it before, and are seeing it again.
A tax fraud scam targeting local residents.
Apparently people are receiving calls from someone claiming to be a “Medford Police Detective” investigating tax fraud.
They’re told if the they don’t pay – they will get arrested.
Lieutenant Kerry Curtis says MPD would never do that.
“We work so hard as a police department to develop trust in our community and when somebody reports to be us and people end up losing money, that can certainly give us a bad look”
Curtis advises people to always report these incoming calls to police.
