More suspicious fires cause concern as weather gets drier

Josephine County, Ore., — Another suspicious fire in Josephine County.

It was reported late Friday on Sleepy Hollow Loop in Grants Pass.

This is the 13th suspicious fire since the beginning of the year.

Rural Metro Fire says they still don’t know if it’s the same person starting all of the fires, but it is concerning especially as the weather starts to dry out.

“Potential for a fire of any kind, doesn’t matter if it’s suspicious or not, does add another element of concern in the sense of it actually spreading much more rapidly. So it could actually spread through the wild land.”

Rural Metro Fire is working with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office to report every suspicious fire, but they don’t have many leads.

If you have any information, contact the sheriff’s office.
