‘Nation of Patriots’ flag arrives in Medford

Medford, Ore. —  A flag that’s traveled all over the world arrives in Medford this afternoon.

Nearly 100 people gathered at D&S Harley-Davidson in Medford for the annual ‘Nation of Patriots’ flag passing ceremony, hosted by the Old Guard Riders. It’s a tradition for the group.

The Old Guard Riders are a local chapter made up of motorcyclists that are all veterans.

The flag starts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is passed from city to city across the country.

For 89-year-old Harry Howard, a World War II veteran, the event was not only a sign of appreciation for patriotism, it was a symbol for the character of the Rogue Valley as well.

“This community is absolutely amazing, it’s nothing like the big cities. That’s one of the best things that I enjoy in small town America, Medford,” Howard said.

The Southern Oregon chapter will ride to Eugene tomorrow morning to pass the flag off to the next chapter.
