Ethics complaint filed against former Commissioner Breidenthal

Medford, Ore. — A new complaint was filed against former Jackson County Commissioner Doug Breidenthal.

Breidenthal was cleared this week of any wrongdoing by the Department of Justice of allegations of misusing public funds, theft, official misconduct and election law violations.

On Wednesday, Jackson County Auditor Eric Spivak filed an ethics complaint against Breidenthal.

In the complaint, Spivak says Breidenthal may have violated several Oregon statutes.

The complaint is also related to a civil lawsuit filed in February.

In that lawsuit, a group of investors say Breidenthal took more than $200,000 from investors for his dispensary ‘American Cannabis’ on West Main Street.

The complaint also  includes allegations Breidenthal began accepting payments from a partner in a marijuana business that was dealing with a code violation.

Spivak obtained pictures which he says support that allegation.

Breidenthal told NBC5 News last week he hasn’t been served with that lawsuit.

He’s due in court on Friday regarding the civil lawsuit.
