ODOT prepares for second storm

Medford, Ore. — ODOT is sending crews to the coast in anticipation of the second round of wet, windy weather expected this weekend. Crews are anticipating downed trees and power lines, and possible slides that could make for messy roads. But ODOT says they’re prepared.

“We’ve managed our crews such that we’ll have 24/7 coverage this weekend,” Gary Leaming says, “we’re kind of marshaling some of our forces over to the coast just incase the winds hit there strongly as is forecast so we can clear the roadways.”

If you are hitting the road, drivers are encouraged to check their tires, wipers, and defrosters, and adjust their speed for the conditions. ODOT says speed is a common factor in crashes during inclement weather. On Thursday, they responded to 12 crashes just north of Grants Pass.
