0720 Siskiyou County MarijuanaSiskiyou County, Calif. – The newly formed Siskiyou Interagency Marijuana Investigation Team recently seized over 1,000 illegal marijuana plants with an estimated value of over $6 million on the illegal drug market.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office said the drug operations took place on private property within the Klamath River Country Estates area of Sisikyou County between October 4th and October 11th.

Deputies said one person who resisted and obstructed officers was arrested.

Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey said during the current marijuana enforcement season, nearly 10,000 illegal marijuana plants have been seized and over $13,000 in drug related money has been confiscated.

“These operations illustrate in vivid reality the magnitude of the illegal marijuana cultivation challenges facing Siskiyou County residents and all law enforcement agencies in the county,” said Sheriff Lopey. “We are fortunate to have such excellent support from so many of our federal, state, and local partner-agencies. More counter-drug operations are planned for this week and several methods are being used to combat the illegal drug trends we are encountering throughout the county.”
