Santa for autistic children

12.05 SANTA AND BOY(WCNC) For years children have gone to the mall and posed for a picture on Santa’s lap, but what happens when a kid doesn’t want to? Recently, that question was been answered.

Santa is now taking appointments with children that have special needs or disabilities, such as autism.

“We would not have Santa pictures otherwise,” said Erin Deely, mother of a child with autism.

An incredible image was taken during caring Santa, an event put on by Autism Speaks and other organizations to give kids affected by autism a chance to have a more typical experience with Santa.

“Social situations get very difficult for him so having the ability for us to come in and set up an appointment and give him an experience of a typical child is huge for him and huge for us,” said Dan Deely, father of a child with autism.

Caring Santa has been going on for a couple of years now AND LETS KIDS HAVE about 15 to 20 minutes of one-on-one time with Mr. Clause, so that each child can get a comfortable and happy holiday experience.
