Search will continue for missing Grants Pass man

Grants Pass, Ore — Residents in Grants Pass are being asked to look around their homes and check any outbuildings because an elderly Grants Pass man is missing, and the situation doesn’t look good. The man suffers from Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Plotting their next move, Search & Rescue crews, comprised mostly of volunteers from as far away as Lake County, are intent on finding 84-year-old Grants Pass man Donald DuBose.

“We’ve had ground searchers and ATVs and road searchers all working today, along with the marine deputy working the river and we had a helicopter out yesterday flying the area,” said search coordinator Cory Krauss.

DuBose suffers from Alzheimer’s, and left his adult nursing home around 9:45 Wednesday evening.

“He was not adequately prepared for these conditions, it appears he was dressed in a t-shirt and socks only,” said Krauss.

Crews are employing every tool at their disposal to find him, including search dogs.

Even so, the task is taking an emotional toll on family and volunteers alike.

Chaplains like Fred Saada are offering a helping hand.

“We spend a lot of time with Search & Rescue on these types of operations where we’re a liaison between them and the family and also make sure that Search & Rescue folks needs are taken care of,” said Saada.

Each volunteer, a piece of the effort to bring Donald DuBose home.

“We hope to find him alive and reunite him with his family,” said Krauss.

Search & Rescue crews will resume their search at Pierce-Riffle park Saturday at 9am.
