Severe accident in Central Point claims the life of a child

UPDATE: Necia Marie Hanson is in court for the first time today.

She is facing charges on manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police are investigating whether her 6-year-old daughter Bell Keesee was in a car seat or restrained at all.

Hanson’s bail is set at $50,000 and will be back in court on May 16th.

The family has a Go Fund Me page to help raise money for funeral costs. They have already reached over $10,000.

NECIA HANSONUPDATE: Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested Necia Marie Hanson on charges of Manslaughter 1, Manslaughter 2 and DUII after a crash that claimed the life of a young child.

Authorities say Hanson was driving southbound on Blackwell road when she drifted into the oncoming lane and collided with a semi truck.

One of the passengers, 6-year-old Bella Kessee, was pronounced dead at the scene, two other passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the semi was not hurt.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at (541) 774-6800 and refer to case number 16-7151.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place around 5:30 on Friday evening on Blackwell Road, near I-5 Exit 35. The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck.

Police say the deceased child was between the ages of 5 and 6. Four people were inside the passenger vehicle at the time of the accident.

Deputies say there is a DUII investigation being conducted in connection with the crash.

A 200-foot perimeter was set up around the scene of the accident to allow for the continuing investigation. NBC5 News will continue to provide details as they become available.
