Amarillo, Tex. — An armed suspect who held hostages at an Amarillo, Texas, Walmart on Tuesday was killed by SWAT officers.
Authorities initially described what happened at the Walmart as a “workplace violence” situation.
Walmart says two of its employees were held hostage during the incident, but are now safe. All customers and other employees inside the store were evacuated, and no one else was hurt.
The store’s manager says he heard at least one shot fired before the evacuation.
Authorities have not released details about the suspect or what may have prompted the hostage taking.
