Trespassing suspect fights with deputy

micheal-mccartySams Valley, Ore. – Police arrested a trespassing suspect in Sams Valley after he allegedly got into a fight with the arresting deputy.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies said 33-year-old Michael McCarty trespassed into a Sams Valley home late Wednesday night. McCarty fled into nearby woods when he was confronted by the homeowner. Law enforcement was unable to McCarty immediately after the incident.

JCSO said around 8:15 the next morning, a deputy found McCarty while responding to another separate trespass report. McCarty fought with the deputy, but the property owner helped the deputy detain him.

McCarty was taken to jail on multiple charges including criminal trespass, resisting arrest and assault on a police officer.

Deputies are asking if any residents around the 9000 block of Highway 234 have seen McCarty on their property over the last couple of days and haven’t reported it yet. If you have any information, call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (541) 774-6800.
