(NBC News) As people gather in Times Square to ring in the New Year, the security presence will be much more visible than in years past.
While authorities say that there have been no specific credible threats, terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Paris have put many people on edge.
“We are aware that the threat picture has changed because of ISIS. It has changed significantly from what it was a year ago or two years ago,” said NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Despite the increased threat level, visitors say that they feel safe and are looking forward to celebrating at midnight.
