Verdict expected soon in Bradley Quillen murder trial

Jackson County, Ore — It’s the second day of witness testimony in the murder trial of Bradley Quillen. Witnesses for both the prosecution and defense were called to the stand with a verdict expected Wednesday evening.

The jury will deliberate the fate of Bradley Quillen, accused of murdering Miguel Delfin in April of 2016.

Quillen faces life in prison after an incident outside a Phoenix 7-11.

Police say Quillen and Adrian Rodriguez got into a physical fight with Delfin.

Prosecutors say that fight spilled into the center lanes of Highway 99 when Quillen fired a single .22 caliber round at Delfin.

A deputy state medical examiner described the result of the fatal shot.

“It then entered the heart, went completely through the heart, producing an almost inch size hole in the heart, it’s sort of an explosive injury, somewhat analogous to photos you may have seen of a balloon getting shot with a bullet, it explodes,” said Deputy State Medical Examiner James Olson.

The defense argued Quillen didn’t mean to kill Delfin and the victim may have been under the influence of methamphetamine.

Depending on the jury’s verdict Quillen could face life in prison on the murder charge as well as time for manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon charges.
