Washington deputies shoot, kill man armed with chainsaw

0830 Chainsaw shootingGraham, Wash. – Deputies in Washington state shot and killed a man after they say he charged at them with a running chainsaw.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said they received a report early Monday morning from a woman who said her 36-year-old son was at their home armed with a chainsaw.

When deputies arrived at the residence, they confronted the man. He refused to put down the chainsaw and was subsequently tased. Deputies said he immediately returned to his feet and charged at them with the chainsaw. Police then shot the man, who died at the scene.

According to deputies, the parents claimed their son had assaulted them before and threatened to kill them. The mother filed for a temporary protection order but deputies had not been able to locate him to serve the order.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing. It remains unclear how many deputies fired.
