Governor Brown announces new COVID-19 related restrictions

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced more COVID-19 related restrictions Monday.

Amid an increase in coronavirus cases in the state, Brown is banning indoor gatherings of more than ten people, effective July 15. The ban applies to things like dinner parties, birthday parties, book clubs and the like. It does not apply to businesses — including restaurants — and churches at this time.

In addition, face coverings will be required outdoors if people are unable to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet from people they don’t live with.

Enforcement will still rely on businesses to help make sure the rules are followed.

Brown said either people will adhere to her guidelines, or more restrictive measures will be taken. “No one wants that,” Brown stated.
