Crater Lake National Park gains sister park in China

0226 Wuyishan Medford, Ore. — Medford has Alba, and now Crater Lake has Wuyishan.

Oregon’s only national park is now a sister park to Wuyishan National Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Southeastern China.

Representatives from Oregon, the U.S. National Parks Service, and China signed the agreement on Friday after nearly 10 years of discussions.

The partnership will help promote Crater Lake to a fast-growing Chinese travel audience.

Crater Lake welcomed more than 600,000 visitors last year. Wuyishan Mountain averages about 10.5 million visitors a year.
