Washington D.C. — The price of a first class stamp will soon go down.
It’s not a sale or promotion. Back in 2014, the United States Postal Service was granted permission to temporarily increase stamp prices. The price hike was contingent upon a planned price drop this year. That surcharge is slated to end April 10th.
The cost of mailing a one ounce letter will drop from 49 to 47 cents. This is the first time stamp prices have dropped since 1919, when a first-class stamp fell from 3 cents to 2 cents.
