Newport, Ore. — At least five homes were damaged Thursday when a hillside gave way on the north end of Newport.
No one was injured by the slide on Northeast 70th Drive, according to Newport Fire Department Chief Rob Murphy.
Residents of seven homes were evacuated. About 30 homes in the area with without power Friday morning.
Crews shut off gas and power in the neighborhood.
Neighbor Jim Tarro told KGW that a car in the garage of the home next to him slid down into a ravine below.
