$17 million worth of marijuana plants seized in Siskiyou County

Siskiyou County, Calif. — More than $17 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed in Siskiyou County during the past two weeks.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office says the Siskiyou Interagency Marijuana Investigation Team, or SIMIT, seized more than 2500 illegal plants. 228 pounds of processed marijuana worth more than $1.5 million on the street was also seized.

Additional searches for illegal marijuana are planned for this week.

SCSO said during the current marijuana enforcement season, SIMIT has seized a total of 7,072 plants worth an estimated $49.5 million.
