4 children killed, 3 people injured in Douglas County fire

Riddle, Ore. – An early morning house fire in Douglas County claimed the lives of four children, and left three other people with serious injuries.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was reported just after 2:00 Wednesday morning in the 700 block of East Third Avenue in Riddle.

When the Riddle and Tri-City Fire Departments arrived at the scene, they found multiple people dead and multiple people injured, according to deputies.

Seven household members were inside the home at the time of the fire.

4-year-old Gwendolyn Howell, 7-year-old Haley Maher, 10-year-old Isaiah Young and 13-year-old Nicholas Lowe were all killed.

13-year-old Andrew Hall-Young, 38-year-old Tabitha Annette Howell and 39-year-old James Keith Howell were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies said investigators are still at the home and processing the scene.

Police will not release any more details about the incident today.
