Nice, France (KXAN) — Tragedy struck abroad and at home on Thursday after the community of Lakeway, Texas found out that they had lost two of their own in the Nice, France attacks.
A family spokesperson released a statement saying 51-year-old Sean Copeland and his son, 11-year-old Brodie Copeland, were vacationing in France when they were killed.
“It was a devastating feel, it took me a while to sink in. I called some people to confirm to make sure what I had read had actually happened,” said family friend Jason Dixon.
Both Brodie’s teacher and school superintendent spoke to the press, emphasizing what a wonderful student and person the young man was.
