Ballots being tallied in Jackson County

tabulatingMedford, Ore. — Elections workers in Jackson County are already counting votes, which state law allows if it’s within 7 days of the election.

“In Oregon, based on our security plans-the preparations we’ve made- we get approval from the Secretary of State to be able to conduct early tallying,” Jackson County Clerk Chris Walker says.

“All of those results that are coming in to machines are secured and we will not release any of that information on how you voted until 8 election night,” Walker says.

They estimate about 43% of registered voters have returned their ballots. If you haven’t mailed yours in, the elections office encourages you to drop it off in a ballot box or at the elections office to ensure your vote is counted.
