Medford, Ore. — An area along Columbus Avenue in Medford was blocked off Thursday morning after a bear was spotted in a tree.

Medford Police said the bear was also spotted the previous night in the same area.

Officers said that the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has been called, and they’re hoping the bear will leave on its own. Police said the bear might not leave until after it gets dark.

MPD has asked the public to avoid crowding the area in order to avoid scaring the bear.
