Bend, Ore. — A Bend man is facing several animal abuse charges after witnesses told police he was kicking and punching his dog.
Portland NBC affiliate KGW reports Bend Police responded to 20-year-old John Speas’ home after witnesses reported the abuse.
Police found no signs of injury on the shepard mix, but later obtained a warrant to evaluate the dog. A veterinarian determined the dog had sustained multiple injuries.
Speas was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated animal abuse and attempted animal abuse.
