Burned bathroom leads to arson investigation

Central Point, Ore. — Fire District Three and Central Point Police Department are investigating an intentionally set fire in the men’s bathroom at Don Jones Memorial Park.

Fire District Three Public Information Officer Ashley Lara said they received a call of smoke coming out of the bathroom around 6:15 Sunday night. When firefighters arrived they found all the toilet paper had been taken out of the dispenser, strewn around the bathroom, and lit on fire.

“Essentially all the walls in the men’s stalls are black so there’s a lot of smoke damage, but fortunate enough they are made of cinder block so they didn’t burn through,” Lara said.

Lara said there was about $2,000 of damage and everything plastic in the bathroom will have to be replaced.

She also said toilet paper was strewn around the women’s restroom, but it hadn’t been lit on fire. At this point there are no suspects. If you have any information call Central Point Police.
