Central Point Planning Commissioners discuss possible COSTCO

COSTCO

Central Point, Ore.– Planning Commissioners will hear COSTCO’s application to build a new location in the city.

The chain is hoping to build a more than 160,000 square foot warehouse, plus a fuel station on the corner of Table Rock and Hamrick roads in the Federal Way Business Park.

NBC5 first told you about the company’s interest in the city back in August.

They filed an  application with the city’s planning commission in November, but an extensive traffic impact analysis required more time for officials to weigh in on the proposal.

It’s a project Central Point Community Development Director Tom Humphrey says could potentially encourage other businesses to come to the area.

“I think it has a positive effect in Central Point.  Two decades with vacant land off of Biddle road and Pine.  This will facilitate economic growth,” explains Humphrey.

Table Rock road between Pine road and Biddle road has already been approved for an expansion to five lanes.  There would also be a new signal at Airport Road and three lanes of traffic heading south on Table Rock road.
