Counterfeit bills lead to arrests in Grants Pass

0429 forgeryGrants Pass, Ore. – Two people are behind bars after police say they tried to use counterfeit bills at two Grants Pass businesses.

According to the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, police responded to reports from two businesses on the sound end of town regarding counterfeit bills.

Police say that using descriptions and surveillance video, they determined a suspect vehicle. After checking local hotels, the vehicle was eventually located.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Wisconsin resident Scott Patrick Tompkins and 25-year-old Lita Marie Zimmer, also from Wisconsin.

Tomkins was found to have a current warrant out for his arrest originating in Wisconsin for uttering forged instruments, and drugs. Local charges are pending.

Zimmer was wanted on a separate Wisconsin warrant for possession of meth. She is being charged locally with forgery.
