Creeks, rivers not quite reaching flood stage

Jackson County, Ore. — The National Weather Service reported Bear Creek and several other creeks in the area are below flood stage.

With the melting snow pack, and another storm on the way, the National Weather Service is monitoring area creeks such as Little Butte Creek in Eagle Point, and Bear Creek in Medford. They say this current system is a little more forgiving.

“Right now, because we’ve had a break in the weather and they’re not already high prior to today, there is some room in the creeks and the rivers to hold a lot of this water,” Brett Lutz said, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Lutz says if the upcoming storm moves through slower than expected, it could cause a little concern.
