Crescent City neighborhood shooting

Crescent City, Calif. — A man shooting a gun in Crescent City caused concern in a quiet neighborhood. Police said the situation ended peacefully, thanks to some cooperation.

Crescent City Police first received a call about a man walking around a neighborhood with a gun and after that – it was all hands on deck.

“We had tremendous help from California Highway Patrol, the district attorney’s office, and investigations and probations,” Ivan Minsal said, Crescent City Chief of Police.

Crescent City Police said it’s the community’s efforts that prevented this from becoming a bigger problem

Included in the community was Lissette Gonzalez and her daughter Autumn, who were home when the incident occurred.

“I heard something go ‘pah,’ and I thought it was something falling in the living room like books or something,” Autumn said.

But mom knew it wasn’t just books.

“It happened so quickly and my heart was racing – because I’ve never experienced that here. It’s a pretty quiet area right here,” Gonzalez said.

Whether you’re in a quiet neighborhood or a busy city, Crescent City Police’s advice if you see an active shooter is the same.

Crescent City Police say that the whole pursuit took approximately 10-15 minutes from that first call. Fortunately, no one was hurt and there was only minimal property damage.
