Crippled Florida canine offers lesson in kindness

Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) — She endured horrific torture, suffered mercilessly at the hands of her abuser and was forced to defend herself in raging, brutal dog fights.

As if that wasn’t awful enough, Khalessi was then left to die in the hot August sun on the side of the road. She was discovered laying in the grass, struggling to breathe. Her spine and back legs were broken after receiving savage, repeated blows from a baseball bat.

Then, there was the wound that shocked even the most veteran physicians. It was so jarring to see, it made your hearts ache all over the globe. The injury, so raw and cruel, caused insurmountable pain to this loving animal with a heart of gold. Khalessi’s nasal cavity was chopped off, with tender, raw skin exposed, revealing her canines jutting out uncomfortably.

This gentle creature came face-to-face with evil, but she beat the odds and now she’s helping others.
