Discount chain wants to sell liquor at new stores

DOLLAR GEN

Grants Pass, Ore.– A popular discount chain plans to offer alcohol in two new  locations.  Dollar General is adding a new store in Grants Pass on Redwood Highway and Daisy and another in Rogue River on Main Street.

Known for their inexpensive merchandise, both locations plan to add alcohol to their shelves.  The OLCC confirms applications for liquor licenses have been filed.

Grants Pass residents say while they are surprised to hear a dollar store will offer alcohol, their main concern is the traffic the new store will create.

“This little Redwood Ave. can’t handle a whole lot more traffic,”  says Lorie Pearson, a Grants Pass resident.  “That would be my main concern I think.  It’s already bad.”

The Grants Pass Dollar General is expected to open in March.  No word yet on when the Rogue River location will open, but they are currently hiring.
