Fallen officers honored

Medford, Ore.– A special ceremony was held Wednesday morning for those who’ve paid the ultimate price while in the line of duty.

Officers Memorial Week was commemorated by local police agencies and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies as they gathered at August D. Singler Plaza in downtown Medford.

The names of law enforcement in Jackson County who gave their lives in service to their community were read aloud as several dozen people paid their respects.

“Especially in an area when public trust has gone down a little bit,” says Jackson County Sheriff Corey Falls, “to have the citizens of Jackson County to come out and fill the chairs is special.”

Since line of duty deaths have been recorded in 1791, over 20,000 officers have died in the line of duty in the U.S.
