Firefighters respond to out of control burn

Jackson County, Ore. – Jackson County Fire District 3 responded to a grass fire on Butte Falls Highway north of Eagle Point around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters said a resident had burned a pile of debris earlier on in the day and thought it had been extinguished. Later that afternoon, the burn pile reignited and the man called the fire department for help.

JSFD 3 said the fire burned half-an-acre. Nobody was injured and no structures were compromised.

Firefighters took the opportunity to remind the public to be careful while burning. They say residential burns must be under constant supervision of a responsible person with immediate access to a phone.
