(NBC) Gun sales hit a historic high in January.
According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, gun dealers sold more than two million firearms in January.
That’s a 75% increase over the same month last year and the biggest-selling January on record.
The latest numbers continue a record-setting surge that began in early 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
They also come after the inauguration of President Joe Biden and the deadly riots at the U.S. Capitol building.
