“It Can Wait” project discourages texting and driving with virtual reality

Medford, Ore — It’s no secret many of us text while driving.

Did you know 4 in ten people are using social media, and 10% live stream video from their cars?

All those distractions can be extremely dangerous for drivers.

That’s why AT&T’s “It Can Wait” project made a pit stop outside the Medford DMV.

The virtual reality simulation shows drivers the dangers of distracted driving as if you’re really the one behind the wheel.

“There’s a number of things that come along that you will be distracted from, and you’ll see what happens and it’s not a safe thing” said AT&T Oregon President George Granger.

“It was intense, it was powerful, and it was real,” said Julie McFadden, one of the volunteers.

The goal of the simulation is to get pledges from the public to never text and drive, and save lives in the process. You can find out more at ItCanWait.com
