Jacksonville Community Center almost funded

Jacksonville, Ore.– The Jacksonville Community center is $35,000 away from their fundraising goal to build a new, larger building.

Right now community meetings and events are held at the small cottage on 4th and Main Street.

A new 3,000 square foot addition to the existing building will feature an event kitchen, meeting rooms and a small outdoor amphitheater.

So far the JCC has raised $523,000 of the $553,000 needed.

Judy Hall, President of the Jacksonville Senior Center, who uses the current space, says the new addition will benefit the entire community.

“This is a community center for all ages and we are trying to focus on all stages of life,” Hall says.  “Jacksonville kind of hurts for space like this right now.”

The groundbreaking could happen as soon as April 1st, 2017.
