Josephine Co. deputies searching for man who may be armed

Update (08/09 7:00 p.m.) — The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said the subject is no longer thought to be a danger to the community. He was not apprehended.


Josephine County, Ore. — Police say they’re trying to locate a man who may be armed with a rifle in the area of Jump Off Joe Creek Road near Crume Drive, north of Grants Pass.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office advised residents in the area to stay inside with their doors locked and to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.

The individual was described by police as a 40-year-old man with a slim build and short brown hair. He may be on foot in between the 300 block and 1000 block of Jump Off Joe Creek Road.

Police told residents not to attempt to apprehend the man.
