Klondike Fire prompts new Level 1 evacuation warnings

JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. – Some people living near the Klondike Fire are being told they should be ready to evacuate.

At 1:30 p.m. on August 2, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office issued a Level 1 (be ready) notice for residences west of Highway 199 between the intersection of the highway and Lakeshore Drive north to Waters Creek Road.

The notice also included Hogue Drive, Norman Road, Illinois River Road, Squaw Mountain Road, Clear Creek Drive, Hidden Creek Road, Circle W Drive, Onion Mountain Road, Butcherknife Road, Slate Creek Road and all secondary roads connected to the aforementioned road systems.

As of 10:30 on August 12, that Level 1 notice also included residences on the west side of Highway 199 between Lake Shore Drive and 8 Dollar Road. This includes all residences on Hogue Drive, Warren Road, Gold Canyon and 8 Dollar Road.
