Knife allegedly found at O.J. estate

Los Angeles, Cal. (NBC News) — Los Angeles Police confirmed on Friday that they were testing a small knife in conjunction with the highly publicized O.J. Simpson murder trial.

Officials say that the knife was turned over to authorities by a retired LAPD officer. “He claimed that an individual who claimed to be a construction worker provided him with this knife, claiming it was found on the [Simpson] property,” said LAPD Media Relations officer Andrew Neiman.

The exchange reportedly happened some 12 years ago, and police are treating the discovery with skepticism.

O.J. Simpson is currently in prison for an unrelated conviction.
