40 Million Target customer have had credit card information stolen

The Secret Service says it is investigating credit and debit card data theft at Target Retail stores.

The Secret Service confirms the agency is investigating, but declined to provide further details. Local stores are refusing to comment and directing media to their corporate contacts.

Cyber Security Blogger Brian Krebs broke the story; he reports that the security breach beganon the biggest shopping day of the year…black Friday…and was going on until at least this past Sunday.

Minneapolis-based target corporation has not commented on the report.

Target has nearly 1800 stores in the U.S.
