Airport sees another record breaking month

Medford, Ore. — The Rogue Valley International Airport is on a record breaking streak. For the past seven months they’ve seen more business than ever, and March was no different.

Nearly 58-thousand travelers either took off or landed at the airport in March alone. That’s more than 10 percent of the passengers they usually see.

Airport Director, Bern Case, said 2014 was their busiest year since 2007, and the numbers just keep getting better. Since January the amount of passengers who traveled through their gates has spiked. In the first three months of 2015 they saw more than 16 percent of passengers from the same time last year.

“I think most of it is the economy coming back we know we’re getting some passengers from Klamath Falls with their loss of air service, but that’s only part of it,” he said.

Case said the aircraft are getting bigger and the airlines are usually flying full planes. While he said they’re always looking for service to new locations the terminal is built for growth, so even with the extra business they don’t have the need to make any additions just yet.
