Parking in Ashland can be difficult to find, the Ashland City Council has approved of spending thirty-five thousand dollars for a study looking at the parking situation downtown.
The study is funded with parking revenues and will be conducted by the University of Oregon’s Community Service Center.
They’ll be looking at how cars, bicyclists, and pedestrians get around town. Some Ashland residents don’t think it’ll help.
“I dont understand how spending $35,000 on peoples’ parking habits is going to solve the problem of too many cars here to begin with.”
The study will also update a parking inventory, evaluate parking use, count bicyclists and pedestrians and hold public out-reach meetings.
The city hopes to work with residents by creating a downtown study advisory group that would bring together business owners, visitors, and commissioners.
