Medford, Ore. – An Ashland City Council woman and her husband are said to be safe, after being in Paris during the multiple violent outbreaks on Friday.

NBC5 News spoke with Migzy McGuire, the daughter of Diarmuid McGuire and Pam Marsh, who is currently serving on the Ashland City Council.

McGuire said the couple were in the center of Paris, walking back from dinner when the chaos erupted.

“They’re walking back to their hotel, and all of a sudden all of these police cars and emergency vehicles started racing back to where they had dinner,” McGuire said. “A guy on a vespa pulled over when they were on a bridge and said, ‘go back to your- run- go back to your hotel!'”

McGuire said the couple reached out to all of their kids and close friends via text, asking for information about what was going on. They also told them that they were safe in their hotel, and staying there for the night.

On Friday, Diarmuid McGuire also took to social media, posting on Facebook about the event, writing, “We are all ok in Paris. Lots of commotion and sadness but the metro is running and the planes are flying. We will be back in Medford Sunday night.”
