Ashland Food Co-op workers gathered to protest unionization efforts. They say a union would change their work environment.
About 10 Ashland Food Co-op workers held signs in protest. It’s been the focus of heated debate for the past year. They say while some workers want a union…. many don’t.
Sirena Scherer tells us, “It would create a very divided situation between staff themselves and between management and stuff and that has already started to
happen over the past 7-9 months.”
Jason Houk a union worker with Southern Oregon Jobs with Justice says, “The values of the Food Co-op and the values of the union are the same, in the end workers here will have a better work environment, it’s going to be a better workplace for everybody.”
A vote on the matter is expected soon.
