Ashland high school student rewarded with the Stamps Scholarship from UO

Ashland, Ore. — The University of Oregon is looking forward to enrolling a star student from the Rogue Valley this fall.

Ashland high school senior Joseph Yaconelli became the first southern Oregon student to be awarded the Stamps Scholarship.

The award is University of Oregon’s most prestigious and generous merit award.

The university is only offering it to six of the best and brightest students this year.

Yaconelli plans to pursue multiple academic disciplines in Eugene, “Im interested in computer science and that is what I am majoring in, but Im also interested in music, film studies and digital media so I am hoping to get minors in several of those.”

The scholarship provides Yaconelli with tuition and room and board among other perks for four years.

University of Oregon is the only university in Oregon and one of only 35 schools in the U.S. to offer the Stamps Scholarship.
