What’s in a name A lot when it comes to selling vehicles.
Call them “People Movers,” “Multi-Purpose Vehicles,” or even “Family Haulers” just don’t call them “Minivans.”
Hoping to spur sales and break the stigma associated with soccer moms and baby seats, a number of automakers are ditching the name “Minivan.”
Ford recently added a “Transit Connect Wagon” to its line-up, while Chrysler is introducing a new “People Mover.”
The biggest visual similarity between the Minivans of old and the not-Minivans of today remains the sliding doors. Automakers say that is where the similarities end.
