Blue Slide Project nearing completion

Grants Pass, Ore. — Almost three years after a Grants Pass mom started renovating her son’s elementary school playground to be handicap accessible, they are one step closer to seeing their dreams become a reality.

Mona Pinon started the Blue Slide Project after realizing her son, Isaac, wasn’t able to play on his Parkside Elementary School playground with his friends.

But she says this project goes beyond just her son.

“It’s not just me working so my son can play but so the whole community can come together,” said Pinon.

On Sunday, they cleaned up the playground removing gravel on the new smooth rubber surface.

The park’s grand opening is Thursday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m.
