Calif. woman taking unique approach to water conservation

Calif. — A California woman has taken a unique approach to water conservation.

Robin Weld has installed an unusual fixture in her home, a combination sink and toilet.

Weld ordered the item from Japan, she says it saves 10 gallons of water or more every day.

The system is completely sanitary, the water that comes to the sink is routed in through its own pipe and then is recycled into the toilet.

The device Weld installed is called “sink positive, last week, the state of California imposed mandatory water use restrictions.

Governor Jerry Brown signed an executive order ordering businesses to cut their water use by 25% over 2013 levels.
